Dear Ava,

I, too, cute my hair when I was your age. It didn't hurt when I did it either, but I sure didn't do a good job. I'm not sure my mommy laughed, but I hope all mommies laugh if it happens b/c as long as nobody gets hurt it'll all be okay. Although I had to wait for my bangs to grow back out before my haircut was okay.

I think she's onto something too and I think I'll give it a shot. She's the happiest little girl I know so maybe I will be the happiest grown-up I know if I get excited about my day as soon as my alarm goes off. As I read about how she had to wait a turn because other children hadn't had a turn yet, I was reminded of our time in Hershey Park where she and I went on the Convoy ride over and over and over again. You are so right Maureen, in this high-tech age of capturing everything on camera/video it is easy to forget our memories can be more powerful if left to their own devices. Wow- you know how sometimes in life you miss the point of something, while at othertimes, you get it? I think that I got it this time. I found myself thinking that you conveyed the experience better than a photo ever could. and how sad it would be to miss it! I found that my cold shrivled heart was moved to have a few tears in my eyes. I know that it was a happy story but it got to me- andI got it.

I'll let you know how the transition goes. As I said, she's ready to sleep in it NOW, except for the fact that it hasn't left the west coast from what I can tell :) I'm ashamed to admit that I selected the latest possible delivery date. Totally manipulated that one. I told myself it's because we haven't picked up sheets for her yet...queen of rationalization at your service! M

I agree with Katie...too cute! I love how Ava talks about her dreams w/ her friends and rainbows. It does sound like your "we only slide on our hiney's" rule definitely took effect. Hope the transition to a big girl bed goes well. Kristin
